Unnati provides educational sponsorship to marginalized students from public schools, including children with visual impairments. These students come from socially and economically disadvantaged and marginalized families, many of whom rely on daily wage labor to support their livelihoods. The sponsorship program is designed to reduce financial barriers and ensure that children can attend school with dignity and confidence.
Under its annual work plan, Unnati ensures that each sponsored student receives a comprehensive educational support package. This typically includes: school uniforms and winter clothes such as sweaters and woolen caps, school bags and shoes, notebooks, pens, pencils, colors, geometry box, sanitary kits, tiffin bag, extra tuition or support classes, other essential stationery and learning materials. The core aim of the program is to lighten the economic burden on families while equipping students with the basic materials needed for regular school attendance and active learning.
To maximize the impact of this support, Unnati maintains close engagement with students, their families, and school management. Regular home visits, school visits, parenting education sessions, and follow-up consultations are conducted to monitor progress, encourage attendance, and ensure effective use of the provided resources. This community-based monitoring approach reinforces the importance of education and helps build a strong support system around each child, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and equitable learning environment.
