Unnati’s Livelihood Support Programme is a transformative initiative designed to uplift the socio-economic status of marginalized and disadvantaged families by promoting self-reliance and sustainable income generation. The program begins with a thorough needs assessment to understand each household’s specific challenges and potential, ensuring that interventions are responsive and tailored. Based on the findings, families receive targeted support such as livestock (goats, buffaloes, pigs, and hens), agricultural inputs, seasonal and off-season vegetable farming through tunnel setups, fruit plants, and materials for home-based or skill-based enterprises like tailoring and small grocery or snack shops. These efforts not only help improve food security and household income but also promote climate resilience and local entrepreneurship.
Beyond material support, the program places a strong emphasis on skills development and financial literacy. Beneficiaries receive training in practical livelihood skills, business management, and cooperative principles, equipping them with the knowledge to sustain and expand their ventures. Unnati also fosters financial inclusion by facilitating the formation of savings groups and linking participants to community cooperatives. Continuous mentorship and follow-up visits ensure that families receive the guidance and encouragement needed to overcome obstacles and maintain progress. Through this holistic approach, the Livelihood Support Programme strengthens household economies, nurtures dignity and independence, and contributes to building resilient, thriving communities.
