Unnati implements structured Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) systems to support and assess its initiatives. Weekly school visits are conducted to evaluate student engagement, coordinate with teachers, and identify students requiring academic or psychosocial support. Home visits offer personalized mentoring and parental guidance, addressing challenges related to student learning, financial hardship, and health. These visits strengthen family involvement and promote holistic child development. Attendance and academic performance are systematically tracked during both school and home visits to identify and address absenteeism of students.
The success of Unnati’s projects is assessed using a participatory, art-based evaluation approach that combines formative monitoring, ongoing reflection, and summative evaluation. Tools such as storytelling, community art, visual timelines, and collective murals are used to track progress across key stages: community selection, project activities, cross-learning, and policy dialogues. This approach fosters accountability, adaptability, and continuous learning while amplifying community voices through creative expression. An evaluation toolkit ensures consistency, with data collected through assessments, observations, and creative outputs. Outcomes such as learning improvement, skill development, increased income, advocacy gains, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability are measured, laying a strong foundation for long-term community empowerment and systemic change.
